the Bunn "pour-over" machines
if the machine has a big trapdoor in the top with a screen you pour the water through, be aware that once you pour water in here, you have just started an unstoppable siphon that will start a waterfall of hot water in about four seconds whether you're ready for it OR NOT. yeah, gave the countertop a nice hot water wash with that a few times...

Queen of Anxiety@georgetakei I don't drink coffee, so when people in my first job were like "Can you make the coffee?" I was like "I've never had it, so I can learn, but I can't guarantee the quality." I was never required to make the coffee. :D

One job interview, the person was tied up for a bit, and I was parked in the lunch room to wait and get a coffee. The coffee maker was empty, so I put on another pot. While I was waiting, a few other people came in and were happy that there was coffee.
I'm certain that was a large part of why I got that software developer job.
Scott@georgetakei Funny, I actually worked in an office that required training and certification before you could use the espresso machine. It worked well in that they rarely required repairs that were caused by misuse.

PunBoleh@georgetakei When I need coffee I'm in no state to use something as complicated as a coffee machine. I'm lucky to get instant coffee done without mixing up the steps.
