one user noted, going to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and changing MenuShowDelay from the default 400 to 0.
If that variable means what I think it means, how on earth was it ever allowed?
Well you see. You add a Delay to the Start Menu and when the boss says âmake it fasterâ - you could spend hours optimizing - or you just remove the delays.
You look fantastic to your boss if you can remove a 1/2 delay.
Iâve got set timeout all over my websites for this purpose đ¤Łđ.
Because that reg key controls how long you have to hover over a menu object in ms before the tooltip appears. Try set it to zero and reboot if youâd like, but itâs going to be a shit experience Iâd wager. Cause you have tooltips appearing all the time and theyâll end up getting in the way and covering other ui elements.
There are many flaws with windows, but that ainât one of them.
Deep nested menus were also much more common (including the start menu itself), and the menu items were often cramped closer together too. I used to turn the delay to zero because it was âcoolâ to see all the sub menus flying out everywhere as you moved your mouse up or down to where you actually wanted to go, but as they often popped over due to limited screen space it was actually a poor experience as you mentioned.
Still felt leet though.
