In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

@rbreich I am less concerned with how much corporations pay in taxes than I am with how much their executives pay.

@rbreich

Another interesting stat would be the corporations that have paid their CEOs more than all the rest of their workforce combined.

@rbreich

I bet most also pay their lobbyists handsomely too

Hello Mr. Robert,

I would like to inquire about your perspective on the relative importance of tax collection and tax utilization in a free and democratic society. In your opinion, which aspect is more crucial: an administration that efficiently collects taxes or one that effectively utilizes them?

I appreciate your insights on this matter.

@rbreich And you can bet those execs don't pay what they should be either.

@rbreich @bloor Having spent a couple of years now working for a company that doesn't have shareholders - it's made it very difficult for me to ever want to work for a company with them, especially American ones. Last company I worked for was US - CEO had an accident, retired and was replaced by someone who literally hired a guy called "Shrek" to basically gut the company and optimise for shareholder value.
