Finally got an evening alone, thought I'd take the time to format some pictures from #ACES2024.

One important aspect to the weekend is who I get to meet. Reconnected with Peter Sokolowski (@merriamwebster), @RedPenRabbit (Rabbit with a Red Pen), @karenyin (Conscious Style Guide); met Martha and Grant of @wayword #podcast.

I could not get enough of the view of the marina from my bedroom. Sheraton screwed up my room—@Logophilius and I needed two rooms, not one—but they ended up providing me a better view in fixing the error.

Note: that contrail in the third photo got brighter and brighter as the night went on.

First picture: One of many slides in Peter Sokolowski's presentation "Englishing the World: How the Renaissance Shaped the First English Dictionary." Shown is a 1654 dictionary, where each entry has four languages, and each language has its own typeface.

Second picture: My favorite drink of the weekend, the Cimmaron. Because I was not live-tweeting, I took tons of notes and breaks to crib my thoughts.

Third picture: Oh, how I've missed California and the smell of the ocean.

Lastly, I made a point of joining my "edibuddies" for karaoke on the final night of the weekend. We ended up at a classic dive bar, causing concern for some of us, but after a few drinks and songs, I think we owned the place.
