I find it endlessly frustrating that Apple's Family Sharing enforces payment from one card, regardless of whether or not you're an "adult" in the plan. All of my purchases go through my husband's card (on our joint account, at least) but it means if I need to verify the payment details on a new device, I have to wait for him to be there to do it

@sophie It’s infuriating that the only way round it is to add gift cards to my wife’s account so it doesn’t charge my card.

It’s like no one at Apple has a family or understands how two adults might share.

@robb I just bought a gift card - it let me! - and then tried to buy the app again and it STILL asks me to confirm card details before I can buy it, despite the gift card being default payment method 🙃

@sophie Incredible.

It Just Works™

@sophie effing patriarchy, strikes yet again
@janl @sophie my wife owns these things in my household :) (mostly because I can’t be trusted with money)
@dsp @janl if my partner was female I'd still be pissed off at this stupid system 😂
@sophie yes! It’s incredibly annoying. We’ve set it to the joint account too, as the least bad option, and some places will allow overriding it but some won’t (app purchases versus music purchases IIRC). And, like you, even though it’s the joint account it’s my card. Ridiculous.
@sophie Aishwarya was complaining about the same issue recently. Such a silly design indeed.
