Talking to @grimalkina about mathematics in computing, I'm reminded of the fact that all the theory courses that teach you all the different ways you can think about computer programming happen _after_ all the weeding courses purpose-built to cull out anyone who, y'know, actually thinks about programming differently, and just wondering how many human beings this field will casually and structurally throw overboard so it can stay a narrow, incurious priesthood.
@mhoye @grimalkina Difference between computing, programming, and computer science, and how mathematics might be similar or different across each of these disciplines. GO!
@ErgonWolf @grimalkina "each of these fields is distinct and uniquely beautiful in their own rights, but each can also be seen as an expression of, and way to express, the other. And all of them have enough of an asshole problem that it's incredibly difficult to see that."
