it doesn’t apply to this but i would like to refer you to “Shahed Bazi In Persian Literature” by Sirus Shamisa which covers “male on male” love in persian literature from late 9th century to early 20th century. TL;DR there’s a lot of and i mean a lot of gay stuff in persian and iranian literature in general to the point that the author says that most of the love interests in persian poems are actually male.
