Star Trek: Discovery is hands down my favorite #StarTrek of the 21st century. It's not even close. In my latest newsletter, I explain why I love this show so much, and why it embodies everything that's great about Trek.

Happy Dancing

We're dancing because we're happy. Or we're dancing in order to become happy. Or we're happy that we can dance. One of those.

@charliejane I've only read the introduction (no minor spoilers for me, thx!), but agree that Discovery is amazing (while also loving SNW). I honestly feel cheated that we only get 5 "seasons", so few episodes really, because I want more of these characters and their adventures (internal and external).
@charliejane It's my favorite, too. Season 4 is one of the best things Trek has ever done, and the Trekkiest!
@toddhorowitz @charliejane
Season 4 also introduces the devices installed on the walls of the bridge that serve no purpose other than to emit flames in times of great crisis πŸ˜…
@CharlesMicah @charliejane Truly the sign of an advanced civilization!
@charliejane Also, I think S1 is underrated. Yes, DS9 had already given us a war storyline, and brought back the Mirror Universe, but I think Disco put a new spin on the war story by linking it with Burnham's redemption arc, which included a trip through the MU to reinforce her commitment to Federation values. And the spore drive powered by a giant tardigrade is one of the greatest goofy Trek science inventions of all time.
@charliejane I also like the way S1 inverts "Mirror, Mirror". In the original episode, the idea was that a civilized man could more easily pass himself off as a barbarian than the other way around, but Burnham shows how hard it would to really blend in with the Dark Side, while Lorca shows how easily a sociopathic MU officer could pretend to be "civilized".
@charliejane it's so good and the haters gets too much attention
@charliejane long-term I think it’ll be my favorite, for all these reasons. Right now, what I need is Lower Decks.
@charliejane You have excellent taste in TV!
@charliejane I love Discovery so much too, my favourite of recent Trek! Right from the rollercoaster that was its first season! Fantastic characters, great arcs, both for each individual and for each season! πŸ’–βœ¨ πŸ––
