Were we on a bus from Mazatlan to Durango yesterday afternoon? Yes. Those dozens of stranded motorists? As one bus in a loooooong line of semis and buses on just our side, I can confidently say it was in the hundreds of stranded motorists.

We were stuck for *14* hours. We stopped around 1 pm, and didn't get going until after 3 am. It was a bizarre and hilarious experience. No one spoke English, so thank god for Google Translate. But we also didn't have any cell reception, and with the bus off, no wifi. So we couldn't let anyone know, and the conversation feature of Translate didn't work.

But friendly folks being patient, using hand gestures, some typing, and lots of laughter made for a great experience. We drove back a km or two to a gordita stand that was amazing. Some truckers pulled out a stove and brewed coffee on the side of the road in the evening, while Brett was outside being the social butterfly and I was napping. And we all cheered when we got going again.

I could do without the choice of the bus washroom vs side of the road squat (I picked the latter), but hey...we made it in time to have a catnap and still catch the eclipse. All in all, success.
