The slightly muted lighting before an #eclipse is probably my favorite part of it. Like the calm before the hurricane hits, you know something is happening and there’s this wonderfully off-kilter feel to it. I’m glad that I’m able to be outside for it, even if I’m not staring into it with the special glasses.
Small wonder that people thought the world was ending or that the wolf was swallowing the sun or whatnot - if you just were going about your day with no knowledge of heliocentrism and the sun suddenly seemed like it was going out, you would have to be absolutely terrified.
