I'm on an unrestricted variable electricity tarrif.
My price per kwh is about to go negative for 3 hours*

I can get my oven and air con unit to fight each other, and be paid for it!

*it's so windy that there's nowhere to put all the energy the turbines are generating, so they pay (mostly industry) to use it up. The price shoots up in the evening when everyone starts putting their heating on and cooking dinner. People on a fixed price tarriff are paying ~25p/kWh all day in the UK right now.

@mattgrayyes Due to the absolutely biggest fuckup anyone has ever done at their desk job, there was a day this winter where the electricity price went to negative fifty cents for like eight hours.

A colleague was considering sending his kids outside with hairdryers to melt snow.

@mattgrayyes (Somebody made a typo in BOTH the price field AND the amount field when making a bid on the electricity market, offering an absurd amount of electricity at negative fifty cents. It was decided that no, all bids are final, and they would now have to buy all that electricity that they did not actually have off other producers, and pay consumers to take it off them.)
