Jared@aronow finally came across the Murphy pic I have been looking for for a story. There are cupboards underneath the basement stairs that he would randomly open as he passed by them. No interest in getting in them, only opening them. The rest of the cats loved going in there, but couldn’t open them. Murphy is the only one who has figured it out. #SiameseCat #cats #CatsOfMastodon

@aronow my guess is “non-specific levels of attention are required from human Jared.” He often would use his “I need attention/protection” meow to go along with it. I suspect Archimedes is partially to blame. As he didn’t meow much, I taught him to “stand on something” to indicated he needed something. His most elaborate version was going up into the ceiling. He knew that I would either hear the banging or a Penguin angry at an Archie stealing her dust
@aronow Murphy the hero Also contributed to my paying special attention to it. He has a meow for many things, including one that indicates some lvl of distress. He often uses it during storms to let me know he needed me to hide him. It was also the meow he used when he discovered the basement flooding when my parents were remodeling years ago. He has never repeated that feat, but I trust his judgement. He can cry wolf all he wants. I will still come
