he loves the jungle - Lemmy.World

It’s a multiverse.
It’s not a very diverse multiverse.
Simultiverse

Shirtiverse. You can imagine the dimensions clashing crossover where they team up.

So you’re The Rock in the grey-green t-shirt.

Ah you’re The Rock in the short-sleeved grey-green shirt.

Let’s swap tops to confuse our enemies!

I’m imagining End Game final battle but every protag is just The Rock with the similar outfit, exact expression, and exact pose

Crisis of Infinite Rocks

One turns up as Black Adam and goes “sorry guys, I’ll just nip home and change.”

That’s hilarious.
There is only one rock movie, it just has a lot of breaks between arcs.
You refer to the RCU (Rock Cinematic Universe).
My favourite was Tsunkatse. That was so weird
rocket control unit?
Carla was the prom queen!
it doesnt matter…
pocket full of cheese
NGL the new Jumanji movies are way better than they have any right to be.
A drop of water in a desert of cash-grab remakes that are significantly worse than the originals because everyone in production knows it’s a cash grab and has no creative input other than pumping another one out.
The new Jumanji movies aren’t really a remake, more a reimagining. Really pretty much the only thing kept from the original source material (book or movie) is “jungle game called Jumanji that becomes real”.
They are good but not iconic like the OG

Yeah, but I often wonder if this has more to do with the original coming out during my childhood?

Nah, it’s probably Robin Williams that makes the OG so good.

This is the answer right here.

Robin Williams was amazing. The range of emotions just can’t be topped. He was the most believable actor of all time.

I do think Robin Williams carries a lot of weight for that movie…but most is the rose-tinted nostalgia goggles. Not saying it was a bad movie by any means.

New ones are Johnson/Hart buddy duo with Jack Black sprinkled on top. That’s quite a team and it’s really hard to compare to just Robin.

What I love about The Rock: he’s only got, like, the facial expressions and I don’t even care - I know he’s gonna make it worth it to watch him anyway! :D
My favourite is Smoulder. Which is yours?
The classic "who just farted? "
vine boom sound effect
Obviously top left is a different movie, he’s got a different shirt on. The jury’s out on the other three though…
Now I’m just imagining Dwayne Johnson asking if he can bring his own jungle jacket.
Jungle wardrobe full of remarkably similar outfits. Hundreds of them.
Hollywood is so pitifully lacking any shred of risk taking or creativity.
But the former wrestler The Rock is a totally versatile and talented actor tho! /s

People write roles for him to be that way

People aren’t paying for him to be someone else

Nothing about his acting ability

I ain’t paying shit to see a brick wall make funny faces but y’all do you, I just don’t get it. Moana is the only movie I can think of that his lack of acting ability wasn’t distracting to me. There are plenty of people I like as people but who can’t act and I wouldn’t pay to see them … Try

People aren’t paying for him to be someone else

I was talking about producers

Haha so true! I only actually liked him in that movie with marky mark where he’s a coked out body builder
Dune 2 sticks out like a lighthouse in a sea of mediocrity. One of the greatest, and boldest movies I have ever seen.
Bold? Nah
Because adapting a book that is considered unadaptable isn’t bold
This version of it is by far the best and really does the book justice, but “bold” is not a word I would use to describe the third adaptation of the same classic piece of literature.
How is it bold?
I think he meant to say baldest instead of boldest.
Really leans into the fan fiction aspect of the original books.

You mean the third adaptation of a widely popular book? Not exactly wildly original.

Still a great movie though.

Not original exactly, but the 1984 version was critically panned, and most people don’t even know the scifi miniseries even exists. It was said by most people to be unadaptable after those attempts. Taking the step to out that kind of money behind it is pretty bold, and it’s original in that there’s nothing else like it in the cinema right now, or in a while.

Watch Poor Things if you want risk taking and creativity. It was weird in the best of ways, imo.

The Lighthouse, Barbie, Oppenheimer, Infinity Pool, Beau is Afraid, the animated Spiderverse Movies, Jordan Peele’s movies, Talk to Me, and definitely more I haven’t seen.

There’s risk taking and creativity, but they’re much harder to find because they don’t get the advertising budget of the standard boring action-adventure bull crap.

The Lighthouse was awesome. Love me some crazy Willem
Add “The Northman” to this list. It’s amazing and Alexander Skarsgard is fantastic.
Money does that. The more it costs - the more safe it has to be.

At least two of these are Jumanjis, right?

What are the other two?

Jumanja and Jumanjoe.
I would guess the rundown and walking tall. Both are actually decent

One is probably the Disney River Boat movie.

Decently entertaining for what it was.

Good call, i forgot about that one! Also i just looked up stills of walking tall and the rundown, and he had hair in the rundown, and a buzzcut in walking tall, so add another movie that could be just like the ones pictured.
I think he wears a snappy hat and sharp vest in that one. Decent costuming, it’s a Disney film after all. They put all thought into details, and let the plot follow predictable tropes.
Journey to the center of the Earth and probably The Rundown one of the better movies The Rocks been in. Christopher Walkens the villain
Lol he just wanted to spend a year in Hawai’i.
Top left stands out though
