I’m on the #SouthwestChief #Amtrak train from #KC to Chicago for spring break with JLJ2 (he’s 13.) The train takes ~7 hours and our tickets were the same price Southwest which would have had us there in under an hour. But I’ll tell ya, it’s a very different experience. Overwhelmingly positive. Makin’ memories with my son 🥰

Rora Borealis@User47 I had to do client visits out of state sometimes. I had the choice to do a relatively short flight, take the train, or drive the 4-hour drive. Dealing with airports and security adds so much time and annoyance that I picked the train. It's incredibly laid back. It's a bit slower, and delays can happen, but I much preferred it. I was able to get work done or read or play games. More trains, please!
@rora_borealis more trains indeed. The sheer number and frequency of trains in Europe never ceases to amaze me. We need that, plz
Jim Hinds KC@User47 @rora_borealis more trains, yes! It was such a laid back experience being able to get everywhere in England by train. It also contributed to the feeling to have all our hotels/B&Bs walking distance from the depot.
