@davidbcohen @briankrebs Chris Morris pretty much did that in the late 90s in the UK with his series "Brass Eye". They got celebs and politicians to read out ridiculous statements on camera. One MP was sufficiently fooled that he gave a speech in Parliament about the evils of a drug called "Cake" that affected the brain region known as Shatner's Bassoon.
