Is Windows 11 wildly unstable in general or does this prebuilt HP my parents gave me just suck?
@mrbowers Probably something with the prebuilt. My work laptop in Win 11 and the only weird thing I get is sometimes when I bring up the context menu in the task bar for just one application, it causes the task bar to reload. Otherwise it's been fine. Don't have much Win11 outside of that as I hate what they did in Win11 so I'm keeping 10 as long as I can on my own, personal systems.
@Nodocchi Yeah, I've heard that HPs in general tend to be shit. I'm only using it because, just by virtue of the fact that my old PC that I built is going on 10 years old, this one is more powerful, but it sure does freak out more than the old one.
@Nodocchi It probably doesn't help that I'm constantly switching it between the 4-monitor setup on my desk to my 4K TV, it seems to get really confused when I do that.
@mrbowers Ah yeah, are you also using a docking station or just through the monitor? I usually find that docking stations also cause laptops to go wild.
@Nodocchi Oh no it's a desktop.
@Nodocchi Or a tower, it's not technically on my desk lol
@mrbowers Oh wow, that's really wild. Could be the monitor and video card combo just don't play nice. My main screen just once in a while will not come up properly (it is set to 144Hz) and I just have to swap inputs. This has happened across multiple different graphics cards.
@Nodocchi Yeah I mean it WORKS 95% of the time, it just kinda freaks out a little bit with the switch from the desktop setup to the 4K TV and takes a minute to reorganize itself at the new resolution. It works better than my old computer, at least (I can't get it to reliably do HDR, though from what I've read that's a pretty common problem with Win 11).
