Don-kun@yellowjitsch Though you can get this experience in Germany too. München Stachus (I think that's the one I remember?) station is quite confusing.
KarlE@yellowjitsch in Munich, we also have a "Sperrengeschoss" in most U-Bahn stations (no actual gates, just posts with ticket-stamper machines and an overhead sign "ticket needed from here"). Mostly single flights of stairs rather than zig-zag though - maybe because often there is an escalator in parallel.
@KarlE In Hamburg I also know stations with two levels (Wandsbek Markt for example) but the stairs don’t go around the corner and are not as long as the two parts I saw in that subway station.
