I read somewhere that Fitbits are just modern day Tamagotchis and the stupid animal you’re trying to keep healthy is just you. I think about that a lot.

My favorite story about those is that my nephew left his in the care of his Cossack grandmother. When the thing started chirping because it was hungry, his grandma smashed it to shut it up. This is Ukraine: if you don't work you don't get fed.
