As someone whose child was diagnosed with this very real condition and is currently improving under the recommended therapy, FUCK THIS.
My child used to bite me and pee on the couch if I told him not to throw his toys at me. Now he’s a lovely kid who follows about 80% of instructions related to basic hygiene and safety and is constantly improving thanks to very hard work from everyone, most of all him. Don’t minimize mental illness. It’s not funny with ADHD, it’s not funny with depression, and it’s not fucking funny with ODD. Does that mean that every doctor diagnoses it correctly? No. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t real people who actually suffer from this.
Also just FYI ODD is a CHILDHOOD disorder, meaning most people who have it don’t even understand the words “capitalism” or “authoritarian.”
Also no one should be calling kids with ODD “insane.” It’s a childhood mental disorder. Would you call someone with ADHD insane? How about someone with autism? How about dyslexia?
Once again. Fuck. This.
