Reminder:

Opt-out is not consent.

@ShadowJonathan Whats tech.lgbt s stance on this anyway? I haven't heard anything yet, or maybe i overlooked it

@catraxx we're looking at it, im personally for a limit or at least a suspend, depending on how aggressive they're going to try scraping users

(limit if they're just gonna follow and then relay, suspend if they're going further than that)

however, we make the decision together, so it's gotta wait for that

@ShadowJonathan Why not just block it? Like, what are we hoping for here?
@catraxx @ShadowJonathan are you asking why we would want federation with fediverse instances using a different protocol?
@simmac @ShadowJonathan No, i am asking about this one in specific. Not just any random fedi server.
@catraxx after seeing that bluesky does not have any locked accounts, and so no way for them to emulate the consent mechanism, I'm for a complete block now, but again, it's something we discuss and decide collectively, my view isn't the only one there, and sometimes it takes a moment for some admins to poke decisions on some problems
@ShadowJonathan even if it had private accounts, I'd still not like my posts to end up there personally if possible

@ShadowJonathan

@ShadowJonathan Opt out isn't consent, it's protesting.
@the1goit ...whats that supposed to mean?
@ShadowJonathan protesting you or others being forced into something you didn't consent for.
@ShadowJonathan What's the context tho?

Sometimes implicit consent makes some sense like automatically forwarding error messages and logs to the developers.
