My little Japanese bobtail 🥰 #catsofmastodon #caturday
@Win
Why do breeders shorten cats' tails? It is necessary for balance when jumping or falling (or rather trying not to fall)! I don't understand their mindset.

@cihi1970 It's genetic. They've been that way for a very long time. She was a rescue cat, I didn't seek out and buy a cat because of her tail 😊

@Win I did not want to offend you in any way, I didn't know this is a genetic mutation. I was just annoyed, because I had seen a few other pictures of cats with, let's say, strange features before I saw your post, and so I kind of exploded when I looked at your beautiful kitty and noticed the curl on her back end.

I generally don't like it, when people think they can control everyone and every creature and everything else around them.

@cihi1970 I'm completely with you on that. Not offended, just trying to give a short explanation. Bobtail is not a result of genetic modification. It's a naturally occurring trait passed down through generations. Anyone who docks tails or 'modifies' animals is abhorrent.
@cihi1970 tbh I didn't even know her breed when I got her. I'd never heard of a Japanese bobtail. Even the person who handed her to me thought she just had a deformed tail. I loved her at first sight. I don't really care what breed she is x
