In 2020 the oldest grand kid said he wanted to get his ham ticket. He studied, but because of the pandemic he could never get to a test site - I suggested he try it online. I'm not sure why or what happened with that. Either way, it's been almost 4 years, and he's lost interest, so I gained a #Baofeng #UV5R I was going to give him when he passed.

I've tried a couple of times to get him to take the test. Even told him I would take him. He just lost interest. :-(

@kd8bxp chances are he’ll pick it up again. At 14 I wanted to get mine, things got in the way. I picked it back up at 28. Some people just fall into a lull during those years.

@NI6V It could happen, and I'll get him a radio - by that time it willn't be a either a baofeng or quansheng, because I'm sure something else better will come along.
I'm still holding out hope for sooner - but you know kids - the more you ask them about something, the more they don't want to do that something.
He just turned 14, I think he started to loose interest when he found out he wouldn't be the youngest ham (Don't ask me, I don't understand either).
