whether it's politics or tech, it seems 90% of the media reports on 10% of the news. So much news goes unreported or unseen (if it's covered by publishers with small audiences). People complain about the algorithms used by social media, but the algorithms used by news editors might even be worse (even if they are manually implemented instead of by software).

While there are economic & technological causes for the decline of news, the managers of news publishers are not blameless.
