Looks like they are a big fan of Rust. 😊
Clayton@rust giving countries ownership of TLDs seems like a dumb idea. I guess it's nice that the current government of Serbia supports you using .rs. Hopefully they stay in power, for your benefit.
guenther@craftyguy yeah because random for-profit companies in random countries are generally much better at serving the public interest than publicly owned infrastructure with democratic oversight.
@guenther who says the governments controlling TLDs are democratic? And even if they are today, they might not be tomorrow. .af, anyone?
Also, no where did I call for for-profit companies to manage TLDs, so I'm not sure where you got that from 🙃
Joe ❌👑@craftyguy @rust As the alternative would be to give either the US government, or whoever can pay the most money, or whoever is chosen by people originally set up by the US DoD and then spun off, control of top level domains, it doesn't seem so bad to me.

Peter Brett@craftyguy @rust I think it's a perfectly reasonable choice that TLDs that are literally the ISO country code of a country should be controlled (directly or otherwise) by that country's government. If you don't like it, there are many non-country TLDs to choose from.
