Hello Fediverse! Our Threads account is now available to follow anywhere.

@appleinsider @[email protected] Is there any reason why I should follow the Threads account over the Mastodon Social account?
@Danweston @appleinsider guess which account copro bootlickers will abandon soon

@Danweston @appleinsider @[email protected] Good question. The content is likely redundant, but between the two, I'd expect us to eventually push our Mastodon following to Threads. No decision has been made yet though.

I mean, our mastodon account will likely stick around since it's easy to push our RSS feed. So don't expect it to just get deleted. Threads will just have more manual posts, I expect.

Me? I'm sticking to mastodon. I never used threads and now I don't have to.

@HilliTech @Danweston @appleinsider @[email protected] Why would you push your Mastodon to Threads? That's what I worried would happen when threads announced their #fediverse implementation. I'm sorry, but I don't trust Meta not to fool with Threads and possibly either break things or include pushed ads to subscribed accounts.

When a decision is made, let us know - on all platforms.

If threads is final for y'all, I’ll unsubscribe.

@jann I'm just an editor passing along info. Don't stress. Like I said, I don't think there's a reason for us to delete the Mastodon account. It'll still be here posting from our RSS.

I'd just expect Threads to have both RSS and manual posts with polls and such. Our social media guy can only handle so much. lol

@jann keep in mind that that exact same risk is even more serious outside of threads where any of a bazillion different instances is free to push ads to subscribed accounts.

At least on threads we know where they would be coming from.

@HilliTech @Danweston @appleinsider

@jann @HilliTech @Danweston @appleinsider probably there are more advertisers or ways to promote content on Threads.
@dminca @jann @Danweston @appleinsider Again, just speaking for myself, but we also have 10x the follower count on Threads. That's a big distinction.
@HilliTech @Danweston @appleinsider I hate threads and it's blocked on our end for a reason, please don't do that.
