Time for a proper #Introduction:

I'm a #healthcare policy analyst, advocate and blogger who focuses primarily on the #ACA (#AffordableCareAct), but I also write about #Medicaid, #CHIP and a lot of other U.S. healthcare system stuff. Last year I also gained some attention for #COVID19 data analysis.

During election season I also raise money online for #Democratic candidates.

Thanks for your thread about political fund raising groups on Twitter today. https://x.com/charles_gaba/status/1770530950683697546?s=20

I've a question. Is ActBlue a fund raising platform only for Dem candidates? Or, is there an ActRed, and ActClimateCrisis, etc. too?

🧵 People have asked me why I started an organized project to raise money *directly* for Democratic candidates up & down the ballot when there's already so many other organizations out there doing this. There's a couple of reasons. 1/

X (formerly Twitter)

@tutormentor1 ActBlue exclusively platforms Democrats and (in cases of nonpartisan offices) candidates who affirm that they’re “Dem-leaning” as well as self-described progressive organizations.

Obviously there’s no guarantee that they’re not lying about their political leanings, but…

@charlesgaba

Thanks. I've aggregated a list of Chicago volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs since 1994 and have consistently tried to draw attention, volunteers & donors to each program.

In 2004-2009 we built an on-line platform to help people find individual programs in specific areas.

The next goal was to add a fund-raising capacity, that would work similar to ActBlue.

Changes in 2011 cut off my access to funds and I never reached this goal.
