Good news: the massive capacity of solar PV expected to be installed globally this year might be enough on its own to cover all the growth in the world's electricity demand; pushing down fossil electricity.
And then there's new wind, and a bit of hydro and nuclear.

By @CommercialSolarGuy :

600 GWdc new solar electricity capacity added in 2024 - 750 TWh of new electricity generation from said capacity.

2023 est 25,008 TWh usage, global. 2.5% growth suggests adding 625 TWh.

@Sustainable2050 @CommercialSolarGuy Assuming that growth in electricity demand also comes from electrification in transportation, heating and industry, where electricity directly replaces fossil oil and gas, the effect of additional 750 TWh/a solar generation is more than just pushing down fossil electricity. It's a systemic change.
