@taylorlorenz this is absurd... Allowing an authoritarian regime (such as china) to control the speech of Americans, as well as track their movements, is directly the opposite of free speech. There are plenty of platforms that are headquartered in the United States with which to exercise your right to free speech.

@taylorlorenz I'd be more comfortable if the congress was passing legislation to protect US Citizens from *all* such surveillance (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, data brokers that sell data on the open market, etc) but hey you have to start somewhere.

@taylorlorenz That is just silly. This is not about censorship or freedom. It is about espionage and harmful content. There are more then enough social media platforms. Just move to Youtube shorts. Why should America take the bullet just so other countries do not dare to think about actual censorship? Especially when China literally does exactly that already? Not banning Huawei was stupid enough. No country needs "freedom to get spied on by China".
