Even with 8 choices I cannot list all the different phone brands. Some really good ones missing and I am sorry about that.
@jon I answered by accident (Huawei) and cannot find a way to undo it 🧐. My first was a Motorola.

@jon Panasonic, can't remember the model 1997
@jon I remember my Nokia 3510i and after that the Sony Ericsson K700i :)
@jon Samsung Rant. It was okay, but then I really wanted a BlackBerry.

<cries in Sprint CDMA walled garden>
@jon My first phone was the very first Windows Phone, the Lumia 7... I didn't bother with all the "standard cellphones" because I actually hate to telephone but when a phone became more, it became interesting
@jon how can you not include BLACKBERRY!!!!

@blogdiva

I can only have 8 choices, so I had to stop somewhere. Obviously the Blackberry was a great device, but there was no room.

@jon An orange Bosch 509e. Still got it somewhere...

@jon There's one option missing: "I don't remember anymore".

It's been decades now. I got my first one in the 90s. One of those bulky ones with a flip thingy and an antenna and stuff. Can't remember the brand for the life of me.

@jon Samsung Corby 2 was the first phone I remember using. However, the first tablet I did use was a Polaroid. (Yes, Polaroid used to do Android tablets)
@jon I started with a Motorola V2288. It was a good little device. So was my Razr.
@jon
Pantech Duo, followed by a Pantech Matrix. dual slider. From Cingular.
@jon It might have been a Philips Fizz https://www.gsmarena.com/philips_fizz-143.php

@jon my first mobile phone was a panasonic, forgot the modelnumber
@jon for me it was a Sony Ericsson T610
@jon
Sony CMD-C1. It was so beautiful ! One of the rare phones without an external antenna (at the time). With a very usable scroll wheel.
But it couldn't even display the time of day…
Still, I miss that originality.

@jon Alcatel One Touch Easy Dual-band

After walking it all over the construction sites the battery cover is hold with a zip tie and the antenna plastic is broken, but the metal is intact: no problem for TX/RX.

I had it with a cloth cover, but the area of the keys that was transparent, well...looked like brown sunglasses.

It still running, also the battery been built to be replaced by normal dry batts in case of needed.

#RuggedPhone 😜

@jon
This Benefon I still have was the first mobile I ever had and was roughly the size of my forearm when I first got it.
@jon Mine was a Kyocera from the Obamaphone program in October 2012 and it was really annoying to use so I upgraded to a smartphone and got a Lumia 822 in July 2013.
