BodilI'm not going to pretend I don't have strong feelings about various programming languages, but it's getting uncomfortably hard not to notice that the most productive developer on the fediverse right now by an order of magnitude or two is the PHP guy.

Alpha Chen@bodil It’s pretty amazing how many of the good self-hosted services are written in PHP. I do wonder if it’s somewhat due to correlation between UI/UX skills and PHP vs. more “backend” languages?
@alpha PHP has always been a language specifically about serving up web pages, I guess it should be no surprise that PHP devs got better at making web pages than most.
Matthias@alpha IMHO it‘s the ecosystem. Composer is one of the best package manager in any language and there are lots of high quality and actively maintained libraries to support you in building whatever you can imagine.
