@BruceMirken @luckytran This is partly because of the sorts of press releases coming out of both universities and corporations, which the media reprints uncritically because they don't have proper science journalists or even regular journalists who aren't prone to swallowing pseudoscience and hype uncritically. TV news is the worst about this but print publications have gotten increasingly pathetic too.
@fifilamoura @luckytran They've long been bad, but staff cuts and the push for clicks have made it worse.
