First realized that I might be trans when I first tried a Linux distro (Debian, actually). Is that common?

@GreyCookieDough IDK, but for me I think the first time was possibly when reading a shojo manga about robots (and relating to the main character a lot). :p
(Karakuri Odette).

I have been using Debian Sid for about ten to twelve years now, though! - What was it about using debian that spurred the thought? Seems probable enough to me. Was Debian actually your first? What are you on now?

@wyatt8740 Oh, I get how one could get from Odette with such feelings.

On the case of Linux, I think that the issue was that I was a long-time user of Windows Vista, which did not want to ever work in my machine in the over five years I used it. The clarity trying Linux was an all together enlightening experience.

I first tried Debian just for the fact that it was the only distro name I recognised. Unfortunately, had immediate issues with my internal graphics card, and I was unused to older Debian repositories. Spent years hopping from Arch to Void to OpenSuse to Mint to whatever.

Finally, when Debian 12 came about, with KDE it seemed to be working like a dream, with the state of software these days (note Flatpak) that Debian repositories weren't an issue. That and I am a little sucker for 'stable' installs, even if just between my ears.
@GreyCookieDough Omg, have you read Karakuri Odette!?!? :D
This chapter still gives me shivers. (If you didn't: both girls here are robots but very different from each other)
I'd not mind stable, but I convince myself that it's better to do updates incrementally instead of in huge leaps. That's the main reason I use sid (rolling release).
