Things therapy can help you do:

1. Gain insight into your problems, including what they are.

2. Provide some breathing room whilst you find either a solution, or how to come to terms with them.

Things therapy cannot do:

1. Solve the problem for you, especially if that's due to it being a structural society level problem.

2. _Make_ you a better person. It can facilitate your efforts but they must be your efforts.

So sending #GamerGaters to therapy? Bit of a non-starter.

Therapists are not a monolith. They're also not magic.

It doesn't pay well, if it pays. Education on ablism, racism, other bigotry? That's undertaken by the individual.

It doesn't pay well, if it pays. Most therapists do it as a second job or are supported by a more affluent partner.

You might be paying for therapy but unless you're in private practice, your therapist is almost certainly not getting paid. Go through an app? They see less than half.

It's a satisfying profession.

@Homebrewandhacking I would add that based on my own childhood experience, misuse of therapy is torturous for the "patient".
