Dozens of people, a majority of which are youth, blocked the entrances to the Swedish Parliament to draw attention to the urgent social crises and the need for an immediate and just transition. A group of scientists with different research areas was also on site.

The fact that the young people even feel compelled to fight for a tolerable future truly shows the failures of all of us and especially our politicians.

Greta Thunberg joins climate protest blocking Swedish parliament

Activist accuses Sweden of being ‘very good at greenwashing’ as group sits outside building’s main entrance

The Guardian
The young people’s message is in line with what the science says.
The prospects for the future with the current policies are very scary. The window to secure a tolerable future for all is closing. We need rapid, far-reaching changes across society to move towards a sustainable lifestyle. Scientists have been warning for decades and yet not enough is being done.
Rich countries like Sweden bear a heavy responsibility, but their policies are at odds with what is needed. Young people are fighting for their future - and the future of all of us - a future that is threatened by policies that actively increase emissions.
Why aren't more people on the barricades?

It is a shame that my generation, and previous generations, are not doing more to protect the future of young people.

Very happy to have had the opportunity to join the protest together with fellow scientists active in @ScientistRebellion
