db2If you’re using an elm327 adapter you probably won’t ever get where you’re wanting to be.
Yeah, you might get basic info. But you are probably not going to be getting really useful fault info or clearing codes.
No idea what make it is, but I spent about $50 on one that was pretty useful.
I got an OBDLink MX+ on sale to replace an elm327 adapter, it’s already paid for itself by letting me monitor my tires individually which my car doesn’t do.
Save up and get a good one OP, it’s worth it.
JWBananasThis. You’ll probably have to also buy the in-app expansion for the specific vehicle. But it will do airbags.
I have a professional scanner that cost $1200 with programming.
For daily stuff I use a cheap ELM and the torque app. Works even with many AWD systems.
I keep them in every car, even give them away and help people setup their phone with torque and show them how to pull codes. Then when they have issues they can at least send me codes.
But best bang for buck I’ve found is BlueDriver. Yea, it’s $100 for the reader (app is free), but it works nearly as well as my pro unit.
Still, 98/100 times good old $13 elm + torque app gets what I need, even codes from trans/awd/abs. Occasionally it won’t be able to access a system, but rarely.
Fair enough. And giving them to people is the vehicle equivalent or remote IT support!

Maybe, the reviews imply it’s a little more capable with the right software.
My advice is still to get one that’s known to work. The one I mentioned, BlueDriver, a couple others.
Yeah I can’t do airbags with this. BlueDriver looks like a good option. Though I learned that airbag light should go off when I replace the sensor just by driving a few minutes, so looks like I won’t be needing this after all.
Torque Pro with BiScan GM. It will cost $34.98 for both, 4.99 for Torque Pro and 29.99 for BiScan. Try just Torque Pro and see if that does what you need, if it doesn’t get BiScan and it will.

You can pick one manufacturer that you will have full functionality with, including bi-directional controls.
Additional manufacturers you can buy a year subscription for $20 to $30.
I’ve got a slightly older sierra and I’ve been. Using that elm 327 for years. I use dashcommand and torque pro. Only tweak I ever do is add the GM pids to torque.
