The Apple Notes app in macOS is weird.

If you close the window before quitting the app from the Quit menu, the next time you re-launch it, it will open the app but the window remains closed. You have to click the Notes app icon again from the Dock to bring up the window.

Opening Notes in macOS can be a 2-step process.

I can't find another app that works like this.

@marioguzman Activity monitor used to behave like that but not anymore. They fixed it in Monterey

@marioguzman I have similar behavior from the Drafts app. It’s likely some cocktail of settings that I have but when I launch the app for the first time, it launches with no window opened. I have to click the app icon to get the window to appear.
