"Father... I understand that the harness is needed for travel but I need you to understand something as well.

I am going to kill you."

@Stamets By any chance, is your cat named Jim Morrison?

@Stamets I tried putting collars on my cats. Just to take a picture of them. They made Smeagol's "it burns us!" scene seem like a quiet and nuanced performance.

Bella will require much groveling and treats from you.

@Nmyownworld I was actually kind of amazed that while she gave me that look, not long later she was walking around like she was born in a harness and acting like it wasn't even there. Taking it off was a bit weird because whisker sensitivity but even when it was off she just looked at it, then me and slow blinked.

She might actually be okay on this trip

@Stamets I bet she's going to do fine.

Last time I traveled with a cat on a plane was many years ago. Their crate was small, to fit in the passenger compartment. My cat's vet gave me some meds to give my cat at home, just before putting them in the crate. To keep my cat calm during the flight. My cat slept through the flight.

@Nmyownworld I'm hoping she will be. She's got the harness on at the moment for about 15-20 minutes for her to adjust. I have been putting treats and liquid catnip in her carrier a couple times to get her to adjust and associate the carrier with good vibes. When she went in earlier I closed it behind her and she sat at the door for a bit. After am inute or so I opened it and she looked around and still sat there and slow blinked. So that's good signs but small steps. Later today I'm going to put the harness on, get her in the carrier, and go for a walk in the building. Walk down the floor, down the stairs, back up the floor and then to the elevator and take that up. See how she copes with it all.

She needs to do fine!

@Stamets You are an awesome cat dad. Bella and you are lucky to be part of each others lives. <3
@Nmyownworld Thank you <3 that means a lot. She's a derpy little monster but I fucking love her so much. When Lynette was gone over the Christmas break we bonded hard and I realized she had a lot of the same tendencies as me due to her being on the streets and then having Lynette be herself. I'd do anything for her <3

@Nmyownworld Just took the harness off of her. Went out and she was curled up looking all comfy. Came over and started to pet and said she's a good girl and I'm proud of her and she started purring and revving like a fuckin engine. Picked her up and took the harness off, she wanted to get away at first but I just kept a hand on her chest and kissed her head and said "Hold on sweetie" and she calmed down a bit. Took the harness off and she didn't fight. Just shook her fur and then looked up at me like "thanks". I think anyway. Tossed another couple treats in the carrier and she went after 'em.

I'm so proud of my lil girl. This has gotta be weird and is gonna be stressful but she's doing so well

@Nmyownworld @Stamets 😸😸😸 Years ago a couple semi feral cats lived outside. I didn't want them to sneak up on birds so I put a collar with a bell on one of them and she also reenacted the Smeagol scene and ran screaming into the woods. She came back a while later and the collar was gone 😸😸
