[Fixed] Donation platforms for Lemmy.World - Lemmy.World

There’s some unrest because the Open Collective Foundation is stopping. Don’t worry, we use Open Collective Europe as a donations platform, they’re going nowhere. We’ve added some donation platforms, so if you would like to support us running our .world servers, you can do so here: - Ko-Fi [https://ko-fi.com/fhfworld]‬ (Preferred because of low fees) - PayPal [https://paypal.me/fedihosting] - Patreon [https://patreon.com/mastodonworld] - OpenCollective [https://opencollective.com/mastodonworld] - Bunq [https://bunq.me/fhf] And for those wanting to donate crypto: - Monero address: 83tnuFN4f28jRxTBW9qGDad2U23qNE5nfeW4Pfyd85oWMW7J9gqpXi3S8FDbX5uEeCAKcGnSpS2XT5dGwYiELthg8XuDrxH - Cardano address: addr1v9qv6xvfwcx9ny56uag4umu6238sw2e7ff2kcxl3qe7p9esayjxgu Thank you! [Edit] Some of the links were broken, they should now all work!

Reddit gold was such a great method of voluntary monetization. It’d be great if Lemmy would support something like that (although there are a ton of caveats.)

I had a $30/year subscription to Reddit for more than a decade.

I think Reddit gold can be benign, but let’s not exploit FOMO plz. That’s how we got loot boxes and micro payments.

How to do “Reddit gold” on Lemmy, in a non-exploitive and ethical way? That would be the rub.

The real danger isn’t on Lemmy.World, where I think the money would go where intended. The real danger is incentivizing people to spin up small instances in the hopes of collecting.
Great point, this will happen instantly.
