Got a takedown message for the #DoctorWhordle GitHub repo. Apparently the New York Times has copyright on a 5 by 6 grid with a keyboard below it.
@louiseadennis ouch.
Does fiddling with the grid size or layout help?
@MattLuckcuck I already had a 6 by 6 grid. I’ve moved the keyboard above it and communicated the changes to the NYT via GitHub. Now we wait… at least GitHub have left the code up in the interim. Downside at the moment the are only complaining about the code repo- now they might spot the actual app on GitHub pages.
@louiseadennis fingers crossed, then. Seems odd to me; I didn't even know it was the NYT's thing originally. It was just suddenly everywhere... Then less so. 😅
@MattLuckcuck NYT bought from the developer. I have sympathy with him there were a lot of monetized clones and he’d no interest in going after them himself and was getting stressed by people telling him he needed to do something about it
@MattLuckcuck I guess it was obvious this would happen eventually I just assumed it wouldn’t affect me because I wasn’t monetising it. I think I’m just unlucky I forked a really popular repo for the base game as my starting point
