because life is less important than 'honor' or some such nonsense.
religion is a vestigial trait that must be culled. a crutch of the weak mind humans no longer require
It seems a lot of humans still require it though, that’s the whole problem imho. If everyone was on the same page it would have disappeared or be no more than folklore same for the rest of legends and such like.
But a lot of humans still have a long way to go and waaaayyyy too many are preying on them while too little of us are steering towards betterment…
a lot of humans require it, or a lot of humans are raised in an environment where they have no choice?
i suspect the number of people that require religion for psychological reasons is quite small. the rest are just indoctrinated
A lot of people still required it for spiritual reasons. Atheism is not for everyone and some still need directions from a superior force in order to put their values/lives in order.
I’m find that behaviour naive and kind of foolish, but as long as they are respectful with others and don’t try to convert everyone else I don’t see a problem.
That’s said, Christians are way less indoctrinated and usually are freely to choose, at least in my experience ( western europe ). If that’s possible is thanks to the historically separation of church and state, which is something the other 2 big religions dosnt seem to like.
if you were raised in an environment where the truth of 'spirituality' is that its completely fake, would they still require it?
if all of the worlds children were raised without religion or spirituality, would it still be a requirement?
I agree on principle, and I’m an atheist myself.
But the concept of faith, with a set of never changing rules and the ability to categorize things easily into good and bad, is far more persuasive and powerful than the vague assembly of progressive values associated with a belief in rationality. Also, a massive part of the human population is centering their life around their respective assembly of mystified guidelines and ethics, and the search for a spiritual truth is also very ingrained and inherent to the human condition.
Simply removing that wont work without replacing the void with a new belief system and ethics code.
i disagree. the thirst for religion is almost entirely because we, as children, are indoctrinated before we even have the ability of choice.
i would suspect a generation raised without religion at all would not require, or even desire religious ideals.
(your) life is less important than (doing what I tell you)
It never applies in the same way to the people who are doing the telling. Only to the ones being told.
Probably older than you.
That’s a bizarre take about me. Anything else you’d like to make up?
Am I only allowed one expression of shock at the foreign-ness of that world or can I SMH as often as I like?
When I was born, married women were barred from most white collar jobs and women did not have the right to their own bank accounts, decades before rape within marriage was formally recognised as a crime.
If you are old enough to remember this era, you should realise that singling out these behaviours as somehow “Muslim” is bizarre.
I appreciate that that might not have been your intent (although it is certainly the subtext of this thread).
To start with the obvious:
How the Christian right took over the judiciary and changed America
And here’s a small selection of recent history from elsewhere.
How Ireland Turned ‘Fallen Women’ Into Slaves
Infidelity plus’ – the new defence against murder
Ugandan MPs pass bill imposing death penalty for homosexuality
Religion of Peace strikes again.
With rocks most likely.
You can be white and Muslim.
Not the typical media portrait, but certainly common in the real world
Well I am Christian and I don’t go hating on women or any other person. You are making overly generalized statements and it is kind of rude and offensive.
As it turns out religion is incredibly broad and the overwhelming majority of Christian Churches aren’t going around and shunning people. I am not Muslim but my guess is that most people who consider themselves Muslim are peaceful and and devoted to service to others and god.
