after the previously released split-tape of THERE ARE NO BIRDS HERE and COLDSORE on TOTES FORMAT a few years back, we decided to collaborate under the new guise of THE SORE BIRDS ARE COLD HERE. we have done so on and off for about a year in a very relaxed anti-work manner, with zero stress about productivity, since we like work to be play.
unfortunately very delayed due to a breakdown of the over 2 decades old CD-burner from extreme frost exposure in the TOTES FORMAT storage facility (a woodshed) we are happy to present you this first release of our new project.
after a new burner was assembled from scraps, it was possible to make the first batch of 25 mini-CDrs in hand printed covers made from recycled frozen pizza boxes. this CDr contains one long-form drone / field-recording assemblage, that is based on actions of trespassing and reclaiming zones, that once were commons and have now fallen into the greedy hands of those considered to be in power over our existence in the world (on the land). this is an ode to broken down fences, busted doors, cracked locks, ladders traversing walls and acts of tunneling free.
white and silver mini CDrs in hand-printed recycled cardboard stock envelope. stapled with rubber-printed title info and label logo, as well as a copy number indicator. the printed pattern is done with found off-set ink and a piece of birch bark with bug larvae tunnels. the cardboard used to be frozen vegan pizza boxes. the top side of the CDr is marked with a X. limited edition of 25 copies. released by TOTES FORMAT.
