BaŝtoTbh, firefox’s hamburger menu is still pretty dumb. To my knowledge it has no shortcut, it is not configurable and can’t be removed from the toolbar. Right at the top it has with bold text sync, whether you use it or not. It has this stupid animation when it shifts to submenus. Another button that can’t be removed is the extensions button.
But well … chromium doesn’t even allow to customize the toolbar in the first place.

How so? It looks pretty standard to me. Agreed that it’d be nice to have a keyboard shortcut for it, but calling it among the worst UI seems excessive.
And being able to customise menus like that is exceptionally rare in software.
True. It probably feels that way because it moved into the toolbar, which was always customizable. If I remember correctly, they always argued that you can use the old menus if you want to use keyboard. But it feels a bit unfinished, the burger menu can’t be removed from the toolbar, has no shortcut and does not have all options the old menus have (offline mode, open file, new container tabs, find again).
And I’m also annoyed by sync since it appeared in that menu. Running your own server for that was always tricky or not possible and it’s not possible to build something similar with addons since they can’t even access bookmark tags.
I think, the idea is that you don’t need a keyboard shortcut for the hamburger menu, because the regular menubar contains everything and is fully keyboard accessible by pressing Alt.
But yeah, that it can’t be removed is there to protect regular users from themselves. If you’re a power user wanting to remove it, then that (and much more) can be done with userChrome.css. See, for example: www.userchrome.org

Not sure where the discord hate is coming from (besides the new mobile app). If you’re someone who has to use Teams for work, surely you’d kill to switch to Discord instead.
I have always hated discord’s interface. Just because something else is worse doesn’t give Discord a free pass.
What do you use? Skype, teamspeak, mumble, ventrillo were all blown out of the water by discord imo, except for niche things like the whisper feature on ts for large groups
Discord, cause everyone is there. Curse Voice had it stomped by miles, any chat room had the chatroom feature beat, anyone could design a better UI, but it has everything in the same place, and I think being free and custom bots gave it critical mass.
Doesn’t mean it’s good.

When people say that it’s “literally unusable” I’m like “what the fuck were you using it for?”
Imo it was unusable when the new UI just came out. It was sluggish af, and would take significantly longer to cold start.
I still don’t like how a lot of buttons that used to be easily accessible from pretty much anywhere are now behind submenus or flyouts or whatever, but at least it’s usable now.
Yeah they had a bad rollout of the new UI but now it’s okay. Not great but I’ve seen far worse
To switch from a server to a private message:
Move your finger all the way up and tap on the server (arranged vertically)

Have fun having a conversation in a PM and a sever at the same time. In the old UI this was a swipe and a tap. The new UI is cumbersome and sucks ass.
And why does the message box, the most important element, only get 50% of the screen’s width? 99.999% of the time I do not want to send an attachment, a voice messsge, or gift fucking nitro. Why have the fucking buttons there all the time?
I miss when everyone was on Skype.
Thank god someone mentioned Teams. I don’t have it on mobile anymore, but the desktop app is insane.

The app has gone absolutely down the shitter after they decided it should mirror other shitty apps instead of the desktop experience. Desktop I’d argue isn’t as much worsened, but there’s still annoying details like the omnipresent gift button.
Trash UI
The new UI on mobile app is awful. Less intuitive, slower and buggy. I don’t know how they did this, but sometimes it takes even a few seconds to switch between views (eg. from servers to DM)
orcaSwitching between servers and messages is my biggest gripe. It feels awkward.
The fact that it exists and that people use it for more than just video chats.

I remodelled my baby’s mobile for exactly this reason. Seemed stupid to have the animals face up when baby is underneath, so I turned them round and made them detachable so baby could pull them off and play with them too.
