A $150K Income Is Now Considered ‘Lower Middle Class’ In Los Angeles, CA - Lemmy.World

JUST!

BUILD!

HOMES!

I mean, afai can tell thats all southern California has done for 80 years.

Lol where?

Seriously, where? There’s no more room in SoCal

I don’t really know how the price of housing could get even higher in California. At some point it’s just so expensive that almost no one can’t afford it and if they can it’s both not worth the price for what you get and the income required to make the monthly payment requires attaining such a niche, high paying job that it will be difficult to hold it with certainty for 30 years. So, buying is a huge risk for a rather unremarkable home. Mortgage payments are between $8k and $25k. Who the fuck is signing up for that, especially when rent is half the price.

Single family zoning needs to die, and sprawling car culture with it. California has the WORST urban planning of possibly any other major population center on the planet, despite being the so called Mecca of brilliance.

That picture is San Francisco
the post titles misleading, its about various cities in the US, two listed in Norcal would be San Jose and San Francisco.
Oakland is in there too.
Los Angeles is now considered “lower middle class” for San Francisco.
$150k is also lower middle class in San Francisco
Am I an idiot, or does the article literally not once mention LA? I see SF, San Jose, Oakland, but no southern California….
Even on the chart, closest is Anaheim.
My home is number one! Yay!
yeah but you get to be close to a lot of rich people
