You've gotta love it when today's video has nearly 100 views on Peertube (which is 110% the average of my last 10 videos), and yet it's ranked #7 out of my last 10 on YouTube with 25% the views of my most recent videos.

@vkc Pro tip about to improve discovery. If you let other instance to let federate with yours it helps discovery of videos.
@madiator2011 @vkc good advice. However, I manually evaluate every instance that tries to peer with me because I don't want my show sitting next to conservative, conspiratorial, or hateful content.
@gardiner_bryant @vkc Same though fell free to accept mine peer.madiator.cloud

@gardiner_bryant @madiator2011 Big same. I don't want my content "federating" everywhere.

I am deliberate about who I choose to associate with, and I have a pinned comment on my profile talking about that. If you want to make a case for federation, I'd appreciate doing so here.

I don't respond to any unsolicited requests, pretty much anywhere. Nothing personal- I have to be careful.

@vkc @gardiner_bryant I'm really considering a PeerTube instance for @crossed given how much my blood boils at YouTube.

May I ask what sort of 'setup' you've got your instances on, are you using S3 storage etc?

@jsbilsbrough @vkc @crossed I've got mine on a Linode using their S3 storage.
@gardiner_bryant @jsbilsbrough @crossed same. I'm running Debian on a VPS + S3 storage. About my only bottleneck is transcoding into different video sizes, and I'm hoping to solve that one with a locally-hosted mirror just for transcoding.
@vkc @jsbilsbrough @crossed this is what I'm doing, too

@gardiner_bryant @vkc @crossed and if I may ask, what kind of resources are the Linode instances using ?

Budget is a bit tight, which is frustrating as I feel like my only choice is to stay with YouTube right now
