On this extra day of February, we are marking a significant milestone: a year since our inaugural subscription. In 12 months @openbookcollect has evolved as a crucial intermediary between libraries, #OpenAccess publishers & publishing service providers https://openbookcollective.pubpub.org/pub/what-a-difference-a-year-makes-an-update-on-the-open-book-collective/

In our update, we report on some key moments & achievements. These include major updates to our organisational form: in Dec 2023, the OBC became a registered charity, underscoring our commitment to community-driven, commercial-free publishing ecosystems https://openbookcollective.pubpub.org/pub/the-open-book-collective-becomes-a-registered-charity/

We have led a global programme of outreach & engagement: From Cape Town to Charleston, we've been amplifying the voices of open access book publishing. One of our key aims is to foster collaboration about #OpenAccess across borders #OpenScholarship #GlobalDialogue
We have also been building subscriptions & support: The OBC now has over 50 supporting institutions. We thank each and every one, as this provides a major new funding stream for our members & a foundation for our move towards full financial independence
