So, I've been playing with the Boox Palma – https://shop.boox.com/products/palma – for about a week. It's pretty great: 6" 300 ppi eink display, only weighs a few ounces.

And it runs Android and with the Kindle app it has turned into a perfect "always in my pocket" kindle.

BOOX Palma

Still loving this thing. Eink screen, fits in the palm of my hand, slips in a pocket, physical page turn buttons… and phenomenal battery life despite running android…
@rit are the larger ones good for writing? I’m still thinking about this remarkable thingy.
@jnfrd I got one of the larger color tablets and it's nice but a bit too heavy for what it is. It could beat my remarkable only if it was less bulky.
@rit ooohhhh
@_lennart I was going to use it as a home assistant house remote (I still may pick another one up for that) until I took it to MRI appointment yesterday. With one working arm I appreciate something that fits in my pocket.
@rit I've got feet in both the Kindle and Kobo ecosystems now, so an e-ink device that can handle both easily is a win. How's the lighting on it?
@teknomantik at least as good as the premium kindle's as best I can tell.
@rit I guess its a custom OS or something like modified Android? Surely unmodified apps cant work - this looks really intriguing
@ripienaar it's android 11, it ships with the play store. I've got it running Kindle, O'Reilly, Home Assistant etc.
@rit Looks intriguing for sure
@rit Ah their specs says Android 11, does it run normal android apps?
