Switch's main claim to fame was the fluid it put in its bulbs to cool the LEDs -- overheating was a problem with LED bulbs at the time. It also made them very expensive, so the use case would be enclosed fixtures or just very hot environments.
I definitely bought more than I needed, but they were unique.
Of course as LEDs got more efficient, and the electronics inside supplying the voltage improved, the need for specialized cooling dissapeared.
