@DO1HMN probably also transmits. How close to lambda/n are those "capacitors"? If you hold a handheld TRX nearby and tune it to the clock frequency it'll probably pick up a carrier 🙂

@datenwolf far from. The crystal works at about 1.8MHz.
Possibly transmits, but with very low power - even reduced by the twisting

@inuvanda my multimeter measures capacity starting with units of 10pf. I needed 33pf. So I tried with the longest patch wires and got ~~20pf. As 2% clock drift is acceptable for RS232 I gave it a try and it works.
