I've wanted to write about AI for a while, but I wanted to hold back a bit and not shoot from the hip with my opinion.

That said, I've formed an opinion (or two) and started to write them up. There's no claim to originality here - I've been listening and reading to voices from all over, so it is more a synthesis of perspectives and honing in on a few key points. #AI #AIOpinion

For me -
1. It's all just hype linked to financial gains by very few.
2. The "applications" of AI so far are just parlour tricks with little value.
3. What value is created is all negative - the "side-effects" are the product.
3. There is no intelligence on show, just sophisticated math and a shit tone of compute.
4. The whole thing is built on colonised and stolen data. It is just a continuation of colonial practices of exploitation and theft.
