My latest post on Covid, flu and covid surveillance in England

England Covid update: everything trending down (which is good) but data disappear after March (which is sad).

Covid & Flu summary The latest Covid news in England is good news. Hospital admissions with Covid have been falling steadily over the past few weeks, with a sizeable 25% fall in the most recent week. This fall is seen across all English regions and also in number of people in hospital recorded by NHS Trusts as being primarily because of Covid. The Covid variant JN.1 is still dominant in England, with nothing new of concern just yet as far as I can see.

Diving into Data & Decision making
@chrischirp Don’t think you’ll escape summer surges in Influenza A and COVID. We have had a surge this year which was worse than the 2023 summer cases My sister was taken to hospital with COVID. She was so ill she was eventually released to a nursing home to convalesce. In the nursing home/aged care facility she caught Influenza A and ended up in hospital once more They hope to send her home on March 1 She will not be very mobile and the doctor says it will be a long recovery.
